Clinic Therapists

Meet Our Team

Meet our exceptional team of experienced therapists: Anne Edwards, Gary Wedman, Roger Murray, Michelle Goobie, and Lisa Taylor. They bring a wealth of expertise in IMS, Shockwave Therapy, ART, and Massage Therapy. Please take a moment to discover more about these remarkable individuals and the transformative treatments they offer.

Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS)

Anne Edwards, BSc.PT

Anne graduated from the University of Alberta with a Physical Therapy degree in 1997. She is invested in continuing education and, over the years, has done additional training in specialty areas like chronic pain, sports assessment, and jaw evaluation. In 2016, Anne completed a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Science and published a paper on rotator cuff tears in the shoulder.

In addition to treating traditional physiotherapy problems like sprains/strains, car accidents, post-surgery or post-fracture problems, Anne has several areas of interest in her practice.

Ongoing Pain

Anne has had much success treating chronic pain in areas like the neck, shoulder, back and hip using Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS). She has been a certified Gunn IMS practitioner since 2003 and has training in Active Release Techniques and other hands-on treatment methods.

Exercise and Self-management

Function and performance are big priorities for Anne, and exercise is part of everyone’s treatment. As an avid road and trail runner (and recovering CrossFitter!), she knows the importance of self-maintenance. Her goal is to learn how to help people care for their bodies and develop exercise habits.

TMD and Headaches

Another area of specialty for her is treating orofacial pain. This includes headaches, face pain and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain. She can also work with your dentist to help sort out these issues.

Gary Wedman, Physiotherapist - Radial Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy

Gary Wedman, BSc.PT

Physiotherapist, ISMST Member & Certified

Gary has been practicing Physiotherapy for 30 years.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta in 1994.  He has also completed training in acupuncture and is a Certified Acupuncture Practitioner by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. Gary has been a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association since 1994.

Gary began practicing physiotherapy at Leduc Physiotherapy Ltd. in 1994 and purchased the clinic from the original owner in 2001.  He owned and operated the clinic until selling it in 2009 to focus more on his young family.  He spent 5 years practicing at LifeMark Health in Leduc, Alberta and managed that clinic for the first 4 years.  He then spent 18 months practicing at CBI Health clinic in Leduc. Gary joined Unpain Clinic (formerly Remedial Wellness Clinic) in June 2016 and began his journey into the world of Shockwave Therapy.  He has been practicing Shockwave therapy for the past 7 years, treating many clients for Men’s pelvic health as well as musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. In December 2022, he formed EuroCanadian Shockwave and Physiotherapy and will continue practicing Physiotherapy and Shockwave Therapy under this company.

Gary tries to keep his knowledge of shockwave therapy up to date by being a member of the International Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment (ISMST).  He has attended the 2017 ISMST Congress in Spain, the 2018 ISMST Congress in New Zealand and the 2022 Congress in Prague, Czech Republic.  He also attended the 2021 ISMST  Congress virtually during the pandemic, which was broadcast from Vienna, Austria.  He was internationally certified in Shockwave Therapy at the 2017 Congress and re-certified at the 2022 Congress.

Gary has been active in the Leduc community since starting his career.  He has been a member of the Cycle LA fundraising committee and the Leduc Community Health Foundation board member.  He has also volunteered his services in many community events such as the 2008 Alberta Winter Games, 2016 Alberta Summer Games, the Guinness Book of Records longest indoor soccer game attempt (2010), the Guinness Book of Records longest softball game attempt (2013), and the Multiple Sclerosis 150km Bike Tour.

Personally, Gary enjoys spending time with his children, as well as other extended family and friends.  He also enjoys vegetable gardening, movies, dancing, and entertaining himself (cooking/BBQ).

Active Release Therapy (ART) & Massage Therapy

Roger Murray, BSc., RMT

Registered Massage Therapist, ART® Provider

Roger finished his B.Sc., Industrial Technology, in 1989 at San Jose State University. It took him 13 years of working and attending school, which shows how dedicated he can be. In 1991, after working in the industry for 11 years, he realized that as an organic lifeform, he had no business working with silicon-based life and began looking for something more suited to his nature.

Also, in 1991, he met and eventually married an Edmonton woman, moving here in 1992.

After passing the Edmonton Continuing Education Massage Therapy program, Roger became a Licensed Massage Therapist in 1995 and began work in a Clinic in Old Strathcona. (Ask him sometime what it was like being one of two male massage therapists in Edmonton.)

In 2002, he realized that he didn’t have 7 years of experience; he had 1 year of experience 7 times. Doing the same work every day had gotten boring, so he focused on the therapeutic potential of soft tissue work instead of relaxation. His career was transformed when he was introduced to the incredible benefits of Active Release Techniques.

Even though it required additional time and expense, he earned certification as a Full-Body Certified ART® Provider. This requires annual training and recertification to ensure continued and improving proficiency, plus new daily challenges as more and more people come seeking. Roger is one of the few Massage Therapists certified by Active Release Techniques and one of the few Certified ART® Providers who have passed Level 2 Certification.

Roger’s athletic background includes Track and Cross Country in school (League Champion and three school records), Swimming, Martial Arts, Mountain and Road Biking, and Archery (Canadian Champion twice, second place 3 times).

With a background in Archery and Massage Therapy, he has travelled the world: Italy, South Korea, and the Czech Republic with the Canadian National Para-archery Team, England, Mexico, Thailand, Argentina, Brazil, and several times in the USA, working as an International Classifier for World Archery. He has worked at two Para-Pan American Games and the Rio Paralympics.

When he’s not working, you’ll find Roger studying lifestyles of the 18th century (especially the Canadian Fur Trade), cooking, learning to fly, learning to work steel as a blacksmith, or in the great outdoors (hunting, fishing, camping, trekking modern and historic, or canoeing).

The things that make him fulfilled are individual empowerment, adventure, and learning.

“I am honoured to facilitate the evolution of those I serve.”

Michelle Goobie - Registered Massage Therapist

Massage Therapy

Michelle Goobie, RMT

Registered Massage Therapist

My name is Michelle, and I graduated from Makami College with a Diploma in Registered Massage Therapy in Edmonton, Alberta. I completed over 3000 hours of in-depth massage training in 2017 as part of the course curriculum standards.

Also, I interned at the Grande Prairie Regional College in collaboration with the University of Alberta, where I received a BSCN in nursing in 1997. I retired as an RN to pursue massage therapy and practiced at a North East Edmonton massage clinic full-time for six and a half years.

I am excited to join the SCC team now and enjoy helping people relax and heal through massage therapy tailored to their needs. I am exceptionally good at deep tissue and proficient with relaxation massage.

In my off hours, I enjoy flower gardening, day hikes with friends and family, reading books, beading jewelry, belly dancing, walking the dog, petting the cat and relaxing with my husband.

Massage Therapy

Lisa Taylor, RMT

Registered Massage Therapist

Lisa has been a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) since 2003 after completing the 2200-hour massage program at Grant MacEwen, and she was a valuable part of the massage team at SCC for her first 5 years of practice. Since leaving the clinic after that, she continued to practice part-time out of her home while balancing massage with the parenting responsibilities of her three children.

We are happy that she has returned to SCC and will contribute part-time hours with us again.

Lisa’s practice focus is deep tissue therapeutic massage, although she is also comfortable delivering amazing relaxation massage as well.

Outside her clinic hours, Lisa is focused on being a “Super Mom,” riding horses, looking after her funny farm, and gardening.
